Drip on

Sep 12

I am officially in the chemotherapy suite in my oncology office.  I am watching my new chemo medicines drip in as I type this.  Go chemo go!

I love visualizing the chemo molecules attacking the cancer cells one-by-one and obliterating them.

I am feeling the Benadryl zonk — they give me a big dose through my port because many people have allergic reactions to chemo drugs, so they just treat everyone.  It makes for a lot of awkward snoring in the chemo room.  (Ha!) I also got a dose of steroids and an anti-diarrhea drug.  They forgot to give me my anti-nausea drug, but someone caught the miss and they got it in me before I started to feel woozy.  (Phew!)  So I will take a nap in this chair today, and then I will be on a steroid buzz (probably) for the rest of the day until it wears off at about three o’clock in the morning.  Before I leave they will connect me to a syringe with an on-body injector so that I can get a shot of Neulasta in twenty-four hours; this is the drug that kicks my bone marrow into overdrive producing white blood cells to help my immune system regroup after today’s chemo.  The technology in cancer treatment is incredible.  All drugs are different, so I don’t know how this particular chemotherapy will effect me, but this is one of the (very few) benefits of being a long-time: I have a small sense of what to expect in the coming hours.

Please pray for healing, for my quality of life, and for me to live well as I navigate.

I know that my mind is steadfast.

I know that my body can do this, and I pray for sustaining strength for each cell and each organ, and for the obliteration of all cancer.

My spirit is full.

Drip on, chemo.

Drip on chemo for this amazing strong Thrivor! My sister told me to visualize the chemo drugs as an army of Pacmen from the video game chomping up the cancer cells. It appears as if your visualization technique is similar. Sending prayers, hugs and positive energy.

Prayers for you and your family while the chemo does its job. You are loved!
