Vacation

Aug 14

We are on vacation. I love vacation. (Really, what’s not to love?)

Our original vacation plans to visit family for the year were cancelled due to my cancer treatment. (We will reschedule that trip when my mom and I are both cancer-free.) I’m taking the stance that the increased anticipation will make it even sweeter.

The timing of this trip was dictated mostly by the window of opportunity between chemo and surgery. My body needs three weeks to get stronger, and my soul is always restored while on vacation. I think this is the first vacation with all four of us

This vacation is extra sweet, for several reasons:
The majority of this trip has been gifted to us. Friends have reached out to bless us so that we can have a memory-making vacation. I’m really left without words at their selflessness and generosity; once again, Brad and I dream of the day we will pay it forward. We are at the beach and the ocean is my happy place.
We went to this same beach when Maren was 17 months old, and being here reminds us of those happy memories. We are enjoying Greta having many of the same experiences at 15 months, and Maren is seeing it all with a new boldness and thrill.

Let’s make some memories!

Hi Jen. Family memories are the best. I have so many and they will take a plain moment and turn it into a glorious one. They are blessings for sure. Now I am into starting family traditions. The kind that will hopefully go on even when I am not around. My granddaughters laugh at me because every time we are together we make a memory and I say “I know!” and they finish it with “Let’s make this a tradition.” So fun. I think you will agree that having cancer sure does make every thing about life wonderful. Have a glorious time and I hope tomorrow will be extra special and filled with lots of blessings and surprises for you. Love you.

  4. I absolutely adore the photo with your silhouette. It’s really very touching! And I love how hearts are touched by the sea! (I just posted on this very thing. God is amazing with His synchronicity!)

Enjoy your family time at the beach!
