Focused prayers

Jun 13

Today Dr. Wonderful and I had several things to talk about:

-My cancer:  It is shrinking and breaking up.  Yes!  However, he did comment that he wishes it was shrinking and breaking up faster.  (Note: even if we couldn’t feel/find it, there would likely still be microscopic cancer.)  Ultimately, I am very happy that surgery and radiation are still tools in the arsenal of what-is-to-come.  Chemo is just round one.  Also, today I told him that I could still feel a bump under my arm; he felt it too he’s not sure if it is a lymph node because it has a funky shape.  He didn’t seem concerned about it, but I’d rather not have funky bumps, cancerous lymph nodes, or palpable cancer.  Period.

-My surgery: Dr. Wonderful confirmed that he is very confident in Dr. Awesome’s skill and talent as a surgeon.  It is great to hear that my doctors trust each other in their arena of expertise.  I have my first surgery consultation in July.  We are planning for surgery!

-My mom’s cancer: Dr. Wonderful will start treating the Rozzinator as her oncologist.  He will review her pathology and make her treatment plan.  Once we have all the lab reports in, he will look at our mother-daughter connection.  We will likely pursue looking at more genetic links.

-My gene testing: Dr. Awesome has already tested me for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes.  They are the “breast cancer genes”; if you have these genes your risk of developing breast cancer goes up by a ridiculously high percentage.  I am negative for the BRCA genes.  (This is a good thing: it means my girls are also likely BRCA negative.)  The fact that I developed “premenopausal breast cancer” makes me a major anomaly and very special: more testing seems prudent for me and for all the women/girls in my family.

I’d like you to help me.  Would you pray for the cancer?  I see Dr. Wonderful again in two weeks.  (Next week I see Nurse Practitioner Rockstar; I alternate.)  I would really like to see some dramatic shrinkage of the cancer over the next two weeks.  I would like to be dazzled by the cancer disappearance.  I would like Dr. Wonderful to be awestruck by melting cancer.  The word obliteration is resonating with me tonight.  This is one of those big hairy scary prayers again: God, please take my cancer away.  I want to pray boldly, pray specifically, pray faithfully, and pray expectantly.  Please join me!  (And thank you!)

I love when God gives a word – I love the word “obliterated” – I will join you in praying that most marvelously descriptive word…. “to remove or destroy all traces of; do away with; destroy completely.”

Jen, you are always in my thoughts and I will continue to hope for the very best for you and Roz! I’m currently in Ubud, Bali, and am sending you a truckload of positivity from here! Also, I have just learnt about the proven cancer fighting agents in turmeric juice – apparently it actually stops the blood flow to and from cancerous tumours and is very good for helping to treat breast cancer tumours in particular. So, please, please, please grab some turmeric juice and start guzzling it down. You can sweeten it with honey, ginger and lemon if you don’t like the taste. I had a shot of it yesterday, just for you, and am about to order another. Helping you fight any little way I can, Mel xxxooo

  5. Praying for the obliteration of your cancer… and your mom’s, too.
