PET Scan Results

Mar 18

My PET scan result is perfectly CLEAN!

ALL CLEAR!

NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE!

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!

This is perhaps the shortest radiology report I’ve had to date.  Today I am medically boring and ecstatic about it.  Nurse Practitioner Rockstar is the one who came into the exam room to give Brad and I the results, and I was thrilled to get the great news from her.  It’s also one of the factors that you learn as you play the role of cancer patient: it’s a really, really good sign when the head honcho (Dr. Wonderful in this case) doesn’t feel the need to see me to talk about the results.  There are no asterisks, no parts that require further tests/analysis, and, bottom line, nothing to talk about.  Rockstar handed me the report and then we sort of shrugged at each other as we had nothing else to cover!

So, we talked about her recent trip to Mexico, and my upcoming trip to New York.

You know, as soon as there is the opportunity, we in the oncology suite take every chance we can to talk about things that are life-giving, hopeful, happy and optimistic.  Tonight, I am still feeling the effects of chemo in my system: the weebly, wobbly, woozy effects.  I’m in this parallel world where I am simultaneously beaten down and buoyed up.  My soul is soaring even while my body is still yet trembling under what I bear.

Tonight, I fix my thoughts on good and lock them in: I am free.

Remission.

No Evidence of Disease.

I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.  I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.  My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.  –Psalm 9:1-3

You inspire us all…and today we thank our God for His goodness!! Both times you were diagnosed I went to church the Sunday after and they sang “Mighty to Save”…I cried…and do you know I haven’t heard it since…just those 2 Sundays. “For I know the plans I have for you, ” declares the Lord, “plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
    Jeremiah 29: 11 – 13
You have certainly sought the Lord with all your heart. I have prayed this verse over you, Jen. To God be the glory.

As stranger-friends, we can bow our hearts together in thanksgiving. Amazing.

Enjoy, soak it in, revel in it, give your loved ones all the cuddles in the world and then simply do the thing you’re so so good at – Do Today (and tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that and so on and so on for 48.5 years) Well
